About us
Rome Photo Lab is organized by associazione Alpido with the collaboration of Instagram’s community IgersRoma, Riprendiamoci Roma and RRStreet International Hub. In its first, in 2023, it involved 100 photographers and its final exhibition – hosted in the historical complex of Biblioteca Ambrosiana – was visited by more than 2000 people. The satellite events connected with the main exhibition around Rome attracted many other visitors, most notably through our stand in the summer fair “Lungo il Tevere” (along the Tiber’s shore), but also with lectures and photo walks.
In September 2024 (2nd Edition) the Rome Photo Lab (RPL) brought together the talent and artistic visions of both seasoned and emerging street photographers from over 30 countries at Villa Altieri in Rome. The festival attracted extensive media coverage including national papers and international publications. In addition to exhibition and networking opportunities, the festival provided talks, workshops, photo walks and feedback to excite image makers, inspire them and further develop their talents.
This attracted national and international attendees. Many visitors were from the local area and were delighted to have the opportunity to visit Villa Altieri and many locations in the center of Rome. In September 2025, we are proposing 3 days to run the Festival in Villa Altieri, in addition to the exhibition which can run for a week within the public realm of Villa Altieri main floor and terrace.
Associazione Alpido was established in 2020 with the aim to contribute to the enrichment of the cultural and artistic environment in Rome through the promotion of quality photography. Before the Rome Photo Lab Alpido organized 7 photography collective exhibitions in the historical Via Margutta. Besides, the association regularly organizes photography courses, photo walks, workshops, seminars and meetings with authors.
The community is a meeting point between professional and amateur photographers, but also tourist guides, schools and people passionate about photography from all over the world.
